Are celebrant wedding ceremonies legally binding?
Celebrant weddings are not currently legally binding. This means you will need to register the marriage with your local registrar before your celebrant wedding. In many other countries outside of the UK, weddings are registered and then celebrated separately, in the same way you celebrate your birthday the day you were born, not the day your birth was registered, so this practice is perfectly normal.
Is a rehearsal necessary?
It is not compulsory but would help calm the nerves and give you an idea of what to expect. I will arrive early on the day to make sure you are comfortable, confident and everyone is in their positions. If you would prefer to go over the ceremony in the weeks leading up to the big day, we can arrange that as well.
Can we have the ceremony anywhere?
The ceremony can be anywhere (within reason) having completed the legal requirements in a registry office or approved venue. Your ceremony could be in a hotel, on a beach, in a garden, in a village hall, in a marquee, in a field, at the edge of a cliff, in a graveyard. Anywhere, so long as you have permission.
Are we allowed to write our own vows?
Absolutely! You can send me your vows and I will incorporate them into your ceremony, or I will work to find the right words and readings for you both during the planning process. I can also help you to decide whether you want family and friends to participate, or to step in and give readings myself if that’s what suits you
When do you perform ceremonies?
I am available to lead a ceremony 7 days a week.
Can we include pets in our ceremony?
Yes of course. A well behaved dog can make a fantastic ring bearer.
Can we have fancy dress or a themed ceremony?
Yes, we will create a personalised original ceremony just for you.
Can we include religious readings?
Yes, you can have whatever you like. It is your ceremony to create. I am happy to include religious content.
Can we include poems and songs in the ceremony?
Yes, they are great ways to personalise your ceremony. I can even recommend a poet for hire if you wish to be completely unique.
How long are the wedding ceremonies?
The ceremony can be as long as you like. Having said that, around 30 minutes is usual and allows for readings, music, vows, symbolic gestures and other elements which you may like to include.
Where are you based?
I am based in Borough close to London Bridge Station. From this location it is easy for me to travel to anywhere in Greater London and the surrounding area.
Do you travel?
Yes, I travel all over the UK and even further if required. Depending on the exact location, there may be some additional costs involved. I’ll discuss and quote these to you upfront.
Fees
Wedding and renewal of vows ceremonies are £500, although prices may vary depending on the couple’s requirements and any additional travel costs if the ceremony is outside London and the home counties. A deposit of £250 is required upon booking.
Naming ceremonies and funeral ceremonies are £250, again this could vary slightly depending on requirements and additional travel costs. A deposit of £125 is required upon booking.
Script writing services are £150 plus £50 to rehearse with the person leading the ceremony which should be paid upfront. This will include a meeting with the couple.
